Team Talks

To past and present team members NCNY WTE and Closer Walk of UNY,

It is the desire of the Closer Walk of Upper New York to develop a list of past speakers willing to share their talk(s) with other Ultreya(s) as well as their own. These talks should be ones given on a Closer Walk of UNY and WTE weekend and been lovingly critiqued by team.

As Ultreya Coordinators Ellen and I are praying that we have a long list of speakers and a strong interest by the Closer Walk Ultreyas to invite speaks to give their Spirit driven talks.

The Ultreya offering the invitation should be prepared to provide food and lodging to the invited speaker and spouse as required.  An Ultreya member’s home is a suggestion but other arrangements maybe work better. It is the decision of the Ultreya offering the invitation.  Gas might be a consideration Elmira to Massena is a long way.  I leave this to you and the Holy Spirit.

We fully understand the sensitive nature of some parts of the witnessing and perhaps some of it would need to be modified before presentation, all understand this.  The content presented is at the discretion of the speaker.

We will be making a spreadsheet with names and speaker information. We would like to extend the invitation to YAC/YAK and Chrysalis/Koinina also to speak at the various Ultreyas.

Secretariat Reminder

Greetings! I hope this note finds you all well! We had a fantastic men’s weekend in Elmira at PAUMC this past weekend! I hope you had a chance to make it to part of it. The women’s weekend is coming up August 4-7.

Just a reminder that secretariat meets this Friday night at 7:30 pm at Auburn UMC. Ultreya leaders please try to gather at 7 for a discussion with other leaders. We will gather in the sanctuary at 7:30 for fellowship, a brief message and communion. Lee Williams will be serving communion this month.

If you have never been to a secretariat meeting before, all are welcome to attend, but only secretariat members can vote on items that require it. Following the meeting, many of us gather at Denny’s in Auburn for what else, food and fellowship.

Looking ahead- We need names for the spring weekends to be submitted by the August meeting. If you have submitted someone’s name before- please check with them and resubmit it…I am not carrying over nominations from the last list. We will need to vote in September so we can announce the names in October at the women’s weekend.

In August and September, I am hoping that we can finalize the new secretariat position rotation schedule, look at the new manuals and finalize the bylaws.

you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God.

On July 17th 2011, The Lairdsville United Methodist Church would like to present a Praise Sing Service!!

This is an open invitation to all Via De Cristo and Closer Walk Folks to come and make a joyful noise for the Lord!

We will be doing this in lieu of a regular Sunday service, as a way to show our congregation the joy that can fill one’s heart from attending one of these weekends!  We are talking up the weekends and would like to show them in person!!

This is NOT just a call for Musicians,  we are welcoming all folks from the Cursillo movement to come fellowship and share God’s love with our congregation, as well as make a joyful noise. Praise sing service will be at 9:30 am under the pavillion on Sunday July 17th.  There will be folding chairs but  You are welcome to bring your own lawn chairs!  I am figuring this will be about an hour and a half to two hours.

We would like to do a dish to pass afterward. We do have a few guests in from ” the west” who will be staying over Sat to Sunday so they dont have to drive in at 6am.

From the NYS thruway I90; (either direction)
Exit 32 Westmoreland
through toll and make right to light on 233.
Make left onto Rt 233 and follow to Route 5. ( Gas station on left)
Make right onto Route 5 and continue (approx) 1 to 1 1/2 miles and Lairdsville church on the right  🙂

Closer Walk #94 Holy Hour

Important Info for Closer Walk Community:

Elmira First Church of the Nazarene, 1136 Broadway, Elmira NY 14904

Arrive at Penn Ave UMC once receiving the go ahead from Community Representatives.
Please park on the front lawn of Penn Ave Church to prevent distractions, confusion, and spoiling the Closer Walk surprises.

Directions from the North/West:
Take I-390 South or Route 13 or 14 South to I-86 East.
Travel east to Elmira take exit 56 toward NY-352/Elmira 0.3 mi
Turn right onto E Church St travel 1.0 mi
Turn left onto Clemens Center Pkwy travel 3.1 mi
Turn right onto Broadway St (At the end of a long barrier wall on your right) Destination will be on the left 0.2 mi

Directions from the East:
Travel West on I-86 to Elmira exit 56.
Take the exit toward E Water St 0.2 mi
Turn left onto E Water St 1.0 mi
Turn left onto Clemens Center Pkwy travel 3.1 mi
Turn right onto Broadway St (At the end of a long barrier wall on your right) Destination will be on the left 0.2 mi
