Men’s VDC # 12

Greetings Christian Community in Action,

Via de Cristo men’s weekend #12 is being held at Zion Lutheran Church in Cobleskill, NY, September 15th -18th. Because of the recent hurricanes, Cobleskill, Middleburgh, and Gallupville were hit very hard by all of the rain. Many community members lost their homes and businesses. I would like to invite anyone who is planning to come out and support the weekend to bring an extra pair of clothes to work in and be prepared to get a little dirty. This is a wonderful opportunity to come together and work in a shelter kitchen, paint, put up dry wall, or break things down in order rebuild. By helping out, we can spread the Gospel and pray, pray, and pray some more!! When you arrive at the church, please see Mike or Jodie Dougherty (VDC Community representatives) and hopefully they will be able to direct you to the right location.

Directions to Cobleskill:
Thruway east to exit 29 (Canajoharie – Rt.10 south to Sharon Springs), go to Rt. 20 east, then to Rt.145 south right into Cobleskill to Zion Lutheran church is on the left. From Utica take Rt.8 south to Rt. 20 east then Rt. 145 south, it is much faster. Forget the Thruway, it seemed to save about a half an hour. This will take you to Main St. Cobleskill at the same point as Rt. 10.

In Christ alone,
Elizabeth Smith
Damascus Road VDC
Lay Director

Please put this on the Closer Walk prayer chain. We are having the men’s weekend in Cobleskill to pray with and be in community with our brothers there in spite of their personal losses and their need to be at work in their communities. Team members have been lost to this disaster, but God will provide, strengthen and see them through! Duane Moore Rector VDC # 12

Dear All, I’ve got good news! A friend’s surgery this morning was successful. His heart is now working at 40%, and he is responding well to meds compared to last Friday condition. His whole body turned blue and I thought we’ve lost him..Thank you all for your prayers, for the help you have extended to me. Keep the prayers going till he is fully recovered because this week had been a roller coaster. Doctors continue to drain the fluids from his heart and lungs..One day he is fine, the next day he is in ICU. One hour he is fine, the next hour he fades away. Let’s pray for his speedy recovery and we want him home soon. We miss him so much.
